meet the Zenits

after a few times going to the sunday market i kinda got an idea of the types of sellers there are. the people that i'm always looking out for are the ones that think the cameras they sell is just like any other junk in the market. just another junk in a box of other things.
i found these babies in a briefcase next to a collection of stuffed birds. one had a better lense and the other was in better condition. it was very difficult to decide which one to get, so i took both home. after bargaining of course. i am proud to say that the whole process was purely in German. ahaaaaa. u gotta give me credit for that.

Zenit-E and Zenit EM. Made in USSR - first produced in the early 70s. quite a common camera back then and even now, online. Both are distinctive for their Olympic games engravings. favorite aspect? how sexy the shutter sounds.

extended foto family

It has been more than 3 years since I got my first and only dslr. and lately i've been trying hard to find the right cameras for me to develop my hobby further. I'm just surprised with the amount of notes and reading I did in order to find the right one, if only I had this much perseverance with the other things I do in life. I havent found what I am looking for (whatever that is), but thats the whole idea of "treasure hunting". you always find the things that you least expect to. I do really appreciate them, it feels like I inherited something. and it's my responsibility to make full use of it. all the bargaining, asking for directions, etc is really helping with my German...
alright, let me introduce you to Zeiss Ikon Colora, a German camera made in the 1960s.
i've read about this brand. and a couple of things i kept in mind (thanks to my friends and the camera forums) was my checklist. shutter, which film it uses, etc etc. so that i wont end up buying junk.
could not find much information about this particular camera, so if u do know anything or even any interesting facts about film cameras it would be super duper. because I'm new at this and I want to learn! :)
and, I was lucky to find a lens compatible with my camera, Nikon 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 AF. (photos above taken with the lense)
theres not much I can say about it, but i'm excited to take it outside and see what this baby can do. and if you're wondering which lenses I use, I think I've mentioned them before, but yeah if you're curious,
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED (kit lense)
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED (wide angle)
AF DX Fisheye-NIKKOR 10.5mm f/2.8G ED
and my all time fave, a
Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-D (portrait)
of course, the day would not be complete without me getting lost. even with a map in my bag.
i have a few treasures in mind, hopefully will find them soon, insyallah. more to come!

treasure hunting

i went to the cyta flohmarkt today with my mind set on getting a good and old film camera. came across a some fairly cheap (2-5 euros!) polaroids that still work. its probably not a best idea to get them seeing that its quite difficult to get the film. nevertheless, its nice to start a collection. if any of you have an idea where i can get them let me know, it would be super great.

Supercolour 635 uses the 600 film
Polaroid Land Camera 2000 uses the sx-70 film
found some ricoh and minolta cameras but im still gonna do some research. gonna try to hit a jackpot. more markets to come!
